Blessing Day

So, we finally blessed sweet Paige! She was 4 months old, but we kept waiting for the basement to be finished to be able to accomodate guests. Anyway, it was a wonderful day. We had great support from both sides of our family, and Bart gave her a beautiful blessing. He said the key was for me not to hold or see Paige until the blessing was over. So, Bart held her all morning, prayed really hard she would be nice and not scream, held her for 30 minutes intervals in the "blessing hold" all morning, put a rattle, binky and everything else in his pocket (just in case) that would entertain her during the actual blessing...and, to his sweet surprise, she just looked up at him the whole time as if she was listening to what he had to say. What a great day it was!!

Fall Fun

We have had a lot of fun this fall, I just haven't really had time to post any pictures. Halloween was a great day. It was way warm, so we got to do lots of things, Trunk or Treat, real Trick or Treat, Trick or Treat down Main Street in AF and end the night at Grandma Childs. The kids had a great time. Rylee was a 50's girl, Cade was Buzz Lightyear, and Paigey had a cute Halloween outfit on until she peeed all over it during a diaper change (sweet!). We also went to Grandma Barbara's the week before for the annual Preston Halloween party. It is a great time of year, and Rylee starts asking me the next day what she can be for next year! Does her wheels ever stop turning...no, I think she gets that from me!

What have we been up to???

Well, let's see...oh yah-the basement!!! The story of our life! It is almost completely done! We have a few little loose ends to tie up such as a few window sills, a little touch up paint here and there, decorations, etc. Anyway, it has been kindof a pain in the butt, living in complete dust and it stirred up soooo many spiders that I told Bart if I saw one more giant spider, I was moving to a hotel! Luckily, I had the spider guy come Friday and spray. Phewwww. One day Cade and I were washing the windows down there and I was trying to clean all the black dirt in the bottom of one of the windows, and a spider came to stinkin life! Cade started screaming and said "The dirt is alive!" Man, I love that kid...he says some of the funniest things. Anyway, Bart has worked so hard on the basement, and has done such an awesome job...so without further adew, I present to you...Bart's baby!

Is She For Real??

Dang, my Paigey is seriously the best baby! I just love her to death! So, around Halloween she was struggling. I mean to the point I didn't really like to take her places, for fear of her freak out episodes. My first time to church with her, her and I left before Relief Society due to her screaming so loud I think the whole church heard, I was sweating like a banchie (is that how you spell it?), and just wanted to leave. Now that I have figured out that she is one that needs a schedule, life is fabulous. But, check out this schedule...wakes up around 7:30 a.m., eats, hangs out til everyone is up and fed, goes to sleep around 9:00 til about 10:30, hangs out til 11:30, eats, goes for the "true nap" and sleeps until around 5:00 or 5:30. What? Is she for real. Then, last night on her 12 week birthday, she went to sleep around 11:00 p.m. (after Bart and I got home from the Jazz game) and slept until 7:30 this morning. I could hear her at that time through the monitor munching her fists...so I walk in to get her, she starts kicking, gooing, and smiling! Man...I love her! If all babies were like her, I could have 10 or 12...o.k., not really!!

Moving Right Along

So, this is for you Paula. We are moving right along on our basement. We have painted partially...we still have my grand idea of faux painting to do (I know...I'm a pain in the butt), the fireplace, finish carpentry, and then CARPET! Bart's goal is to have it all done by the time the first Jazz away game is on tv. Can he do it? He never ceases to amaze he, so I am betting YES! He keeps pulling out skills I never thought he had. Way to go honey! The best thing about this project...Bart has saved us so much money by his skills and learning how to do things by himself. Thanks to the Internet and books at Home Depot! He is awesome! If you are wondering what my kids are doing in this picture...they are playing the air guitar with paint sticks. Man, they are good helpers!

Paigey is 2 months!

Our little Paigey is getting so big! What a sweetie. Here are a few updated pictures at 2 months. I love it when their pants don't quite fit...they look a little Erkylish (you know that nerdy kid whose pants go up to his boobies-Erkyl). :)

Rylee is 6!

Of course I am late again with this post, but oh well...better late than never! Rylee turned 6 on the 25th of September. She said it was the best day ever! She opened her presents from our family in the morning, at which time Cade felt ripped off. Of course Rylee being the sweetie that she is, let Cade open a couple. He was excited! We only do friend birthday parties every other year...and this year was the off year. So, we asked her what she would like to do and she chose to go to Build a Bear Workshop. Her and Cade got to go and pick out their animal, and their outfit (which Rylee said she would have which ever outfit is cheapest...she is such a good girl), bathe them, get them dressed, etc. It was a little pricey, but the kids had a blast! Happy Birthday Ry!

Rylee's New Hair

So, Rylee has been bugging me for months to let her cut her hair short. I think she thought if it was short, she wouldn't have to do it. WRONG! I was very reluctant in the summer, because she gets so hot and sweats. We put her hair up every day! Yesterday I was going to get my hair done, and told her if she wanted to get her hair cut...now was the time. Bart thought it was a little short, but I thought it was a darling change...and Rylee loves it! So, here is the debut.

Paigey Update

Paige is now 5 1/2 weeks old! She is doing so great...we all just love having her around! She is such a content baby, I feel so lucky! Cade tells me everyday about 20 times, "Mom, I love our babes so much!" The last few nights she has even been sleeping until around 4:30 or 5:00 a.m. Not too bad!

Caders!

Cade and his friend Kyler

I kindof feel like my sweet little Caders has been put on the back burner these days. With baby Paige being born, and then Rylee starting kindergarten, poor Cade has been a little forgotten. So, I am dedicating this post to my cute Cade!
As many of you may know, Cade doesn't usually put his S on the front of his S words. For example, lately a very common phrase around our house is:
"Mom, I melled Paige and she dinks, I think she bit up."
Translation: "Mom, I smelled Paige and she stinks, I think she spit up."
Another comment as he was riding his bike in the rain:
"Mom, my shoes are geeky."
Translation: "Mom, my shoes are squeeky."
One last concerning comment as he was eating his package of cheese and crackers:
"Mom, dad doesn't use his dick."
Translation: Dad doesn't use the red stick to spread his cheese on his crackers.
WOW, I am sure glad I understand him and can translate for all those non-understanderers.

I've been Tagged!

Here are the rules...

1. Link to the person who tagged you:
http://gordofam.blogspot.com/
2. Post the rules on your blog.
3.Write six random things about yourself.
4. Let each person know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their website.

1. I LOVE to go on vacation! It pretty much doesn't matter where we are going, I am totally in for vacations. Sometimes Bart has to go on business trips for 1 night...most people would think it is more a pain in the butt to pack kids up to go, but not me - I will go no matter what! In fact, I have been known to pack up the kids and leave Bart home. If he says he is too busy at work, or any other reason...oh well, I go without him.

2. For some unknown reason, I am addicted to reality TV. I know...blah, blah, blah...it is complete trash and there is nothing uplifting about it, but I can't stop! Every season I say I will not watch The Bachelor...but, it starts, and I watch. I am completely pathetic. Some of my other ridiculous shows - Dancing with the Stars, Real World (ultimate trash!), American Idol, etc.

3. I don't really love watching sports...but I love to watch BYU sports and I am a freak about the Utah Jazz! Our whole Preston side of the family is Jazz freaks. My kids have jerseys, hats, pom poms, etc. We have parties for playoff games and pretty much plan our lives around the Jazz schedule. It's way fun!

4. I have to have my house picked up before I go to bed! About 6 months ago, my neighbors bathroom caught on fire in the middle of the night! As we were all standing outside watching the firemen run in and out of the house, all I could think about was the fact that I would die if they came in my house right now. Ever since then, I am a freak about my house being picked up...just in case something happens in the night. However, since Paige has arrived, I have become somewhat relaxed about my house before bed, simply because I am too tired. Well, wouldn't you know our basement flooded a couple days ago, and we had our neighbor come over at about 7:00 a.m., to a messy house! Oh wow, I better get back on the bandwagon!

5. I absolutely HATE all seafood! I don't even like a tuna fish sandwich! No shrimp, no crab, nothing that has been in the ocean. The best part of it all, I went on my mission to Japan. However, never once did I eat seafood. I would line my backpack with Ziploc baggies! My first night in Japan, an investigator brought me a treat...octopus in a fried batter. Not knowing what it was I put it in my mouth as to not offend. Well, it sat in my mouth and I started thinking about what it could be, and began to dry heave! From then on, I didn't care if I offended people...I would not eat fish!

6. I am pretty much a freak about beds being made! First thing in the morning, I go around and make all the beds. There is nothing that drives me more crazy, than unmade beds. In fact, as I was in major labor with Paige, and we were gathering the kids up to go to the hospital at 3:30 a.m., I told Bart we needed to make the beds...needless to say, he very politely said "HELL NO!"

So, pretty much I tag whoever wants to do this!

3 1/2 Weeks...Hanging in There!

So, our sweet baby Paige is now 3 1/2 weeks old. I can't believe how fast time goes. It's kindof weird with a newborn...I can't believe that she is 3 1/2 weeks old, but yet it seems like she has been in our family forever. She is such a sweet baby, we all love her to death. Some (Rylee and Cade), love her a little too much (Always in her face!). She is definately growing - she is now in a size 1 diaper, and can fit into some of her 0-3 month clothes! We are getting into the routine of a newborn...it's definately different from what we are used to. Here are a few updated pictures that I took today. The first one isn't the cutest of Paige, but my other kids look cute. Notice the last picture, how nice Cade holds her...kindof like a kitty! :)

Off to Conquer the World!

So, I know I am a week late with this post (somehow, I feel like I can't get on top of anything these days), but Rylee had her first day of kindergarten last Monday! She was so excited to start, that I just couldn't possibly cry. I am quite sad to have her gone for 3 hours...she is such a great help! Plus, Bart and I are kindof over protective of our little family, so we just don't like her being gone. On the first day, Bart called me 30 minutes before the bus was to come, wondering why I wasn't at the bus stop. :) I guess this is the start of many big firsts in our lives.

Faster than Lightning!!

Well, our little Paige is here, and she came faster than lightning! A quick little run down on her arrival. I started having contractions around 3:00 a.m., woke up Bart to time them, jumped in the bath, started putting on make-up, packed (sortof) a bag, grabbed clothes for my kids, grabbed the kids out of bed and headed to the hospital. Arrived at the hospital at 3:50 a.m., called my mom to come and get Rylee and Cade, asked where the "anasthesi-freakin-ologist" was, and was politely told he was coming from Springville to Timp Hospital. They checked me and I was dialated to a 6-7. Three nurses were rushing as fast as they could to get me situated, and since I tested positive for Group B Strep, they needed to get 2 bags of antibiotics in me. So, they checked me 5 minutes later and I was an 8, at this point I realized the "anasthesi-freakin-ologist" probably was not going to make it! They checked me again 5 minutes later and I was a 9, at which time I looked up to see my OB walk in, he came and checked me, I was a 10. He put on a lab jacket and away we went! Me screaming like the ladies on TLC's a Baby Story, even though I have always said I would never do that! After 3 pushes, she was born at 4:24 a.m.. She is beautiful with a head full of dark hair! We love you Paigey, and even though you came a little too fast for my liking, we are sure glad you are here!

Pedicure by Rylee and Cade

The other night I went with Shauna and my mom to get a pedicure and go to dinner. Well, I had just had a pedicure so I didn't get one, but I was telling Rylee and Cade how I really love them! Well, they decided to take matters into their own hands, and give me a special pedicure. Next thing I know, they had the lotions, fingernail polish and remover, stickers for my toes, etc. As you can see, it didn't stop at the toes, they wanted to paint my legs! So, I let them use Crayola markers and decorate my legs as well. They absolutely had a ball, and really felt they had done a great service to me. :)

I must say, the rubbing of my legs and feet really did feel pretty good. Rylee even took it a step further and massaged my shoulders and back. WoW, I am lucky...next time I will save the $30 and have a home job!
